Ranchi, Dec 23: Ranchi University has not been answering the RTIs written to it. This correspondent had sent a letter to the University on June 21, 2022, demanding information related to the departments. However, it has been over six months and the university is yet to respond to the said RTI.

Meanwhile, when questioned about it, present RU VC Prof Dr Ajit Kumar Sinha said, “First Appellate Officer ko chhodo, main dunga aapko saara data.”

However, it has been over a week since this, and the University has still not provided the data.

Notably, as per the rules of RTI, if the applicant does not receive the response for the RTI, within 30 days (or 35 days in case the application was transferred to another department or was submitted to APIO) of submitting the application, then the applicant can file for an appeal.

It is also worth mentioning here, that the questions asked could have been answered by the CCDC of the University, hence when asked the questions mentioned in the RTI, he had said, “Ask these questions through an RTI.” Further, when informed of the RTI remaining unanswered, he added, “We have already sent the answers to the RTI office and PIO in the university.”

Another source at the university said, “We did see the application, however, we cannot find it now.”

Meanwhile, when the correspondent tried to get answers directly to the other remaining questions, they were sent to at least three to four people, stating that the next officer would have the information.
