Sloth bear attacks primitive tribal in Palamu Tiger Reserve

Daltonganj, April 8: A 55-year-old primitive tribal Lunjan Kissan was hurt by a sloth bear in the jungle of Nawa Toli in Netarhat, said deputy director South division of PTR Mukesh Kumar.

Kissan has sustained head injuries and sustained marks of injuries in his chest as well. His first aid was provided at the primary health centre Netarhat.

Brinda Pandey, ranger of Mahuadanr  said the man was out for dry wood and Mahua fruits when this bear attack took place.

“PTR will bear expenses of his treatment. It ranges from 20,000 rupees to 1.5 lakh in the event of permanent disability,” he added.

Notably, jungles of Mahuadanr  are notorious for bear attack.
