New Delhi, Nov 17: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President, Sourav Ganguly, is all set to take over as the chairman of the Cricket Committee of the International Cricket Council (ICC), replacing Anil Kumble. The International Cricket Council (ICC) had made the announcement in a press release on Wednesday. Kumble will step down from the role after having served a maximum of three three-year terms.
“I am delighted to welcome Sourav to the position of Chair of the ICC Men’s Cricket Committee,” ICC chair Greg Barclay said as part of the announcement on Wednesday.
“I would also like to thank Anil for his outstanding leadership over the last nine years which has included improving the international game through more regular and consistent application of DRS and a robust process for addressing suspect bowling actions,” added Barclay.
Notably, Ganguly is credited as one of India’s most successful captains of all time and one of the best batsmen of his generation. He was president of the Cricket Association of Bengal between 2015 and 2019 and took over as BCCI president in October 2019.
