Stock Market Opens Strong: Sensex Jumps 581 Points, Nifty Also Gains

Mumbai: The Indian stock market began the week on a positive note, with both the Sensex and Nifty witnessing strong gains on Monday.

At the opening bell, the Sensex surged 456.06 points to open at 79,668.58, while the Nifty rose 112.85 points to reach 24,152.20.

Within the first half-hour of trading, the Sensex climbed further, gaining 581.71 points to trade at 79,794.24. Similarly, the Nifty advanced by 148.55 points, reaching 24,187.90. The Nifty Bank index also traded in the green, jumping 576.20 points to touch 55,240.25.

Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, 19 were trading in the green while 11 were in the red. Reliance Industries shares were among the top gainers, rising by 2.77%, while HCL Technologies saw a decline of 1.94%.

Top Gainers Today:

Reliance Industries ICICI Bank Mahindra & Mahindra Tata Steel State Bank of India (SBI)

Top Losers Today:

HCL Technologies Tech Mahindra Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Bajaj Finance Infosys

Among other stocks, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), NTPC, IndusInd Bank, HDFC Bank, Tata Motors, Bajaj Finserv, Axis Bank, Titan, PowerGrid, Bharti Airtel, Adani Ports, Sun Pharma, and Eicher Motors were also trading higher.

On the downside, stocks such as ITC, Nestlé India, Maruti Suzuki, Asian Paints, Hindustan Unilever (HUL), and UltraTech Cement were witnessing declines.
