New Delhi:
In the span of 24 hours, Delhi witnessed three separate firing incidents linked to escalating extortion bids by notorious gangs. The attacks targeted a luxury car showroom, a hotel, and a sweet shop, sparking concerns over rising gang-related violence in the capital. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in any of the incidents.
20 Rounds Fired At Car Showroom
In the first incident, gunmen opened fire at a second-hand car showroom called Car Street Mini in southwest Delhi’s Naraina, situated just a kilometre away from the Naraina police station. Witnesses reported hearing at least 20 rounds being fired by three men, causing widespread panic.
The shooters fled the scene after damaging four luxury cars—two BMWs, a Mercedes, and a Mini Cooper. They also snatched the phone of a salesman and tossed it 100 meters away from the showroom. A slip reading “Bhau Gang, Since 2020” was found at the site, referencing the notorious gangster Himanshu Bhau, who fled to Portugal in 2022 and is suspected of orchestrating extortion attempts from abroad.
In a similar attack in May, the Fusion Cars showroom in Tilak Nagar was targeted, and ₹5 crore was reportedly demanded by the Bhau Gang. Police have identified the three suspects involved in the Naraina shooting and have registered a case.
Firing At Hotel Near IGI Airport
The second firing occurred in southwest Delhi’s Mahipalpur, close to Indira Gandhi International Airport. A bike-borne shooter fired 5-6 rounds at Hotel Impress, shattering its glass gate. This attack is also believed to be part of an extortion attempt to take over the hotel.
Last year, the hotel owner had been threatened by a man claiming to be connected to Canada-based gangster Goldie Brar. Brar, along with Lawrence Bishnoi—currently in custody in Gujarat—has been linked to previous high-profile extortion cases, including a shooting outside actor Salman Khan’s Mumbai residence.
Firing At Sweet Shop in Nangloi
The third incident took place in Nangloi, where bullets were fired at a local sweet shop. A slip referencing jailed gangster Deepak Boxer was found at the scene. Boxer has been involved in several criminal activities, and his gang continues to operate despite his incarceration.
Authorities are investigating all three incidents, and police presence has been increased in the affected areas to prevent further violence.
