New Delhi, Sept 29: During the first T20I match between India and South Africa on Wednesday in Thiruvananthapuram, Suryakumar Yadav broke the record for most runs scored in a calendar year in T20Is.
In his 21st appearance for India this year, the aggressive Suryakumar broke Shikhar Dhawan’s record run a total of 689 runs.
The 31-year-old player’s strike rate of 182 is the highest of any batter who has played at least 15 innings this year, and his runs have come at an average of 38 or higher. Suryakumar also has the most runs scored in 2022 among all T20I batters.
Suryakumar beat Mohammad Rizwan for the most sixes hit by a player in T20Is in a calendar year with his 43rd maximum with his first scoring stroke of the game. He has smashed over a 100 boundaries in total this year for India in the shortest format.
