Ranchi/Hazaribagh: The bail plea of suspended IAS officer Vinay Choubey, accused in the Sevayat land scam during his tenure as Hazaribagh DC, could not be decided on Thursday as the ACB failed to present the case diary. The Hazaribagh ACB Court has now fixed September 6 as the next date of hearing.
Case Background
Vinay Choubey faces charges in a recently registered FIR under case number 9/2025 by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). He has moved the Hazaribagh ACB Court seeking bail in this matter. His counsel, advocate Shankar Banerjee, presented arguments in court, while the ACB’s side was represented by the Special Public Prosecutor.
Previous Legal Troubles
Earlier, Choubey was also an accused in the Jharkhand liquor scam case. However, as the charge sheet was not filed within the stipulated period, he received relief and was granted bail in that case.
Next Steps In Court
The court has made it clear that the case diary is crucial for further proceedings. The deferment to September 6 will allow both sides to present their positions more conclusively before the judge takes a decision on the bail petition.
