Jamshedpur, Aug 23: The duress brought on by the flood in Jamshedpur and its peripheral areas have been assessed jointly by the team of district administration, TSUISL (formerly JUSCO ), Tata Steel and Tata Steel Foundation.

A complete assessment of all areas impacted by flood has been carried out. Accordingly, plans are in place to extend dry food packets to the rescued families.

The residents of some of the areas affected by flood water, including those at Shastri Nagar and Greenpark, have been extracted from their residences with the use of rafts from Tata Steel Adventure Foundation. Dry food packets for some families have also been arranged.

A total of 150 tarpaulins have been distributed to flood-affected residents of Bhuiyandih.

In addition, an additional 150 tarpaulins have also been extended to residents of Sapra village at Seraikela, through Tata Steel Long Products.

A total of 5,500 packs of the one-pot meal (khichdi) are being distributed to families in need of immediate food.

In keeping with the ethos of the Tata group, more than 15 employees of Tata Steel stepped forward to assist in the relief process, as part of the Company’s Employee Volunteerism initiative.

Most of them have either been part of previous relief efforts or have contributed effectively during the Covid combat period.

Accordingly, the employees either assisted in evacuating people through rafts or were instrumental in food and tarpaulin distribution.
