Patna: RJD leader and former Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav has expressed deep displeasure over Bihar not being granted special state status, calling it the state’s misfortune. He accused the central government of ignoring this crucial issue linked to Bihar’s development and also raised concerns over the ongoing voter revision program in the state.
Allegations of Voter List Manipulation
Tejashwi alleged that names of several eligible voters have been removed from the electoral roll, while many citizens without proper documents are unable to get registered. Calling it a conspiracy, he claimed the BJP is using the Election Commission to do what it cannot directly — removing certain voters’ names from the list.
Election Commission’s Response
In response, the Election Commission clarified that the voter list is being prepared in a fair and transparent manner. Officials stated that the draft electoral roll was published on August 1, and citizens have until August 12 to file claims and objections. They further said that no political party has yet submitted any objections. The EC reiterated its commitment to ensuring no eligible voter is excluded and no ineligible voter is included, urging both citizens and political parties to actively participate in the review process.
