Jamshedpur, Aug 12: Shops and other business establishments remained closed in Telco locality of steel city on Thursday over the untimely death of Ghorabandha Mukhiya, Bahadur Besra.
Besra, also the nephew of Ghatshila legislator Ramdas Soren breathed his last yesterday.
He was undergoing treatment at the Tata Main Hospital over stomach-related ailments where he died.
In his mid- forties Besra left behind his wife and two children.
As soon as the news of his death spread a pall of gloom descended at Ghorabandha in Telco.
As a mark of respect all shops, banks, departmental stores and other business establishments in Ghorabandha and Kharangajhar downed shutters.
Family sources said Besra was admitted to Tata Main Hospital on Saturday when he complained of serious stomach pain. He was undergoing treatment at the critical care unit ( CCU ).
According to family members, they were trying to take him to Kolkata for better treatment.
The body which was kept at the morgue of Tata Main Hospital was brought to Ghorabandha from where a funeral procession was taken out before he was cremated at the Subernarekha burning ghat at Bhuiyandih.
Several political party leaders including Union tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda, also a resident of Ghorabandha, state health minister Banna Gupta and several JMM leaders condoled the death.
