Chatra, Oct 23: A ten-bed isolation ward has been made in the Chatra Sadar hospital as a precautionary measure to deal with monkeypox cases if any appear in the district in the coming days. The ward is close to the intensive care unit (ICU) on the first floor of the hospital.

Sources said after a few cases of foot and mouth disease in children in the state, the health officials in Chatra are vigilant and keeping eye on all suspected cases coming to the Chatra Sadar hospital.

District epidemic control officer Dr Ashutosh Kumar said if any child with symptoms of foot and mouth disease comes, he or she will be kept here in the isolation ward.

Kumar said no monkeypox case reported in the district but if any suspected case comes, he will be admitted to the isolation ward where his treatment will start as per the guidelines. He said they are in alert mode and so the monkeypox isolation ward is ready to deal with any situation in the coming days.
