Shopian, Jammu & Kashmir: A migrant worker from Bihar was killed by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday, marking another tragic incident of violence against non-locals in the region. The body of the worker was discovered by locals on the roadside, bearing injuries, and was quickly transported to a nearby hospital. Security forces, including Indian Army personnel and Jammu and Kashmir Police, have reached the site and launched an investigation into the killing.
This disturbing act comes just two days after National Conference leader Omar Abdullah took the oath as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. The killing is part of a troubling pattern of targeting non-locals in the valley, with previous incidents sparking fear and insecurity among migrant workers in the area.
In April this year, two other non-local laborers were also killed by terrorists, continuing a series of violent attacks aimed at migrant workers.
Earlier this month, another case of terrorist violence shocked the region when an Indian Army soldier, kidnapped during an anti-terror operation in Anantnag, was found dead with bullet injuries. The soldier was one of two Territorial Army personnel abducted during the operation, with one managing to escape despite being injured.
Security forces are on high alert, and investigations into these terrorist activities are ongoing.
