Ranchi: During the Corona period, doctors across the country played an important role in fighting the epidemic like warriors. In this battle of the epidemic, 594 doctors across the country got caught in the cheeks of untimely times. While 39 doctors of Jharkhand have died in the second wave. The country may call doctors as corona warriors, but even today their families are waiting for the compensation amount.
Health department is unable to verify the death of its own doctors
Jharkhand IMA had submitted a list of 20 government doctors who died of corona in the year 2020 to the Hemant Soren government of the state. Even in the second wave, so far 39 doctors have lost their lives due to corona infection. That is, due to corona infection, Jharkhand has lost 59 of its government doctors so far.
IMA believes that the Central Government has announced compensation amount for doctors for death due to corona, but due to the web of procedures, no doctor’s family has got the benefit so far. Various documents are being demanded to confirm the death from Corona and the Health Department is not able to verify the death of its own doctors from Corona.
Corona warriors’ families are waiting for government assistance
IMA Joint Secretary Dr Ajit said that we had demanded from the government that the state government should give 50 lakh compensation to the doctors who died of corona. But till now the compensation amount has not been given. He said that in the neighboring state of Bihar, compensation of 50 lakhs has been given to the doctors who died from Corona. Whereas in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh an amount of one crore rupees was given. Our government definitely talks about giving respect to the corona warrior. But here the reality is different.
Registered doctors got compensation under NSS policy scheme
Dr. Ajit, Joint Secretary, IMA said that IMA has its own insurance scheme. Whose name is National Service Scheme Policy. The members of IMA who have registered themselves in NSS have been given compensation amounting to around 12 lakhs.
