Mumbai, Dec 1: West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee met NCP chief Sharad Pawar in Mumbai on Wednesday.
“What is UPA? There is no UPA,” said Mamata Banerjee after meeting the NCP chief.
Mamata noted that a firm alternative course should be made to fight against ongoing fascism.
“A firm alternative course should be made as nobody’s fighting against ongoing fascism. Sharad Ji is the senior-most leader & I came to discuss our political parties. I agree with whatever Sharad Ji said. There is no UPA,”said Mamata Banerjee.
Earlier in the day, while interacting with civil society members in Mumbai, she had said that if all regional parties come together, defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party then will be easy.
Meanwhile, the NCP chief also tweeted a photograph of the meeting with the TMC leader at his residence.
“Today, my colleagues & I had a long chat with her. Her intention is, in today’s situation like-minded forces have to come together at national level & set up collective leadership,” said NCP chief Sharad Pawar after meeting with Mamata Banerjee.
“We have to provide a strong alternative to leadership. Our thinking is not for today, but for the election. This has to be established and with that intention, she has visited and had a very positive discussion with all of us,” he added.
Pawar had also met Shiv Sena leaders Sanjay Raut and Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday.
