Patna, Feb 15: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav stated on Tuesday that his family is still hopeful that his father, former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, will be acquitted in the fodder scam cases, despite the latter’s conviction in the fifth case.

“Everyone should accept the Court’s order. This is not the last judgment. The sentence was pronounced 6 times earlier, we approached the High Court for all cases. So, this is not the last judgment. Lalu Ji will definitely be acquitted. There is Supreme Court after High Court,” Tejashwi Yadav said while talking to reporters.

Tejashwi’s reaction came after Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad was convicted in the Rs 139.35 crore Doranda treasury scam, the sixth fodder scam case, by a special CBI court in Ranchi, and he was brought into judicial custody.

The former Bihar chief minister has requested bail in the CBI court. In his plea, he stated that if he is not allowed bail, he should be taken to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for judicial custody because he is ill.

The quantum of punishment will be announced on February 21.
