Daltonganj, Oct 29: Thieves used a unique method to decamp with tyres in Daltonganj. This incident occurred on Friday evening. By night same day, the victim lodged the FIR with the town police station Daltonganj. Police have begun its investigation. There is so far no breakthrough.

Thieves parked a truck before the tyre shop on NH 75. As it was night and so parking of the truck by the side of NH 75 did not cause any suspicion so much so that even the PCR van failed to suspect the foul play.

The thieves used their parked truck as a shield and then they broke open the shutter and grill and took away tyres worth around Rs 5 lakh.

Inspector cum officer in charge of the town police station Abhay Kumar Sinha said on Saturday, “The thieves did not look like any run of the mill burglar but look like having expertise in tyres as tyres so stolen from the shop are all to be used in the truck.”

Police officer Sinha said, “Our PCR van was there but unfortunately this incident just went unnoticed all because of the parked truck which we now believe was a kind of shield for the thieves.”

Police have begun to screen the footages of the CCTV camera wherein two figure prominently, said the police officer. Sinha agreed there could be more than two for this post-midnight theft of tyres.

Sources said it was the shop owner, K Agrawal, who found his shop burgled and tyres worth around Rs 5 lakh stolen.

An identical modus operandi was adopted by the thieves in Harihurganj a few years ago when a truck was parked before a wine shop and then cartons of bottles of wine were stolen on NH 98 then.

Police officer Sinha said police patrol has been intensified in the town.
