Dhanbad, June 28: Three labourers died and one is critical due to the poisonous gas that leaked while cleaning a well in the Barvad village under Deori police station, around 52 km away from Giridih district headquarters on Tuesday morning.

Deori police station official said three were declared brought dead by doctors at Deori community health centre (CHC) while the fourth labour is critical and under treatment in hospital.

The deceased were identified as Sagar Vishwakarma (26), Abodh Vishwakarma (27), and Mahesh Vishwakarma (20). The fourth labourer Satish Viswakarma (24) is under treatment.

The officials said that the incident occurred at around 9 am. Four labours entered the well for cleaning the dirt in the house of Barvabad village resident Girja Viswakarma. The pump set was also pressed to de-water the well. As the pump set started, allegedly, all four labourers fell unconscious in well.

The villagers immediately brought them out from the well and got admitted to Deori CHC where the doctor declared three of them as brought dead.

Deori police station official said that the bodies have been sent for postmortem. On basis of the report, further action would be initiated. All four labourers were residents of the village and no one has turned up to complain even after 5 hours of the incident.
