Jamshedpur, Sept 16: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued an alert of thundershowers and lightning over isolated places over Jharkhand today.
Weathermen said overcast condition is expected to prevail in most parts of the state with intermittent rain at some places.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Bikaner, Kota, Raisen, centre of well-marked low pressure area over East Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood, Sambalpur, Digha and thence east-southeastwards to Northeast Bay of Bengal.
The trough was running from southwest Rajasthan to north coastal Odisha across the
Cyclonic circulation associated with well-marked low pressure area over East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh at 1.5 Km above mean sea level.
Monsoon activity was active over the state during the past 24- hours. The highest rainfall recorded was 56 mm at Khunti.
The rain deficit of the state as of today stood at 33 per cent. Against a normal of 920 mm, the state has so far received 614 mm of rain.
