RAJ KUMAR

Ranchi, June 28: Former member of the Jharkhand State Commission for Women, Vasvi Kiro, addressing a programme organised on World MSME Day 2022 today took a dig at the state government and suggested it to work beyond the ‘chicken-goat’ while planning entrepreneurship development among tribes.

She was of the opinion that tribes are getting smarter day by day and they are able to establish industrial units like any other entrepreneurs but due to lack of proper support from the government and its plan of limiting the tribals to poultry and piggery is coming as a hurdle before the development of entrepreneurship among tribals.

National SC ST Hub Ministry of MSME, in collaboration with Tribal Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TICCI) had organised the programme at the auditorium of Jharkhand State Small Scale Industrial Association (JSSSIA).

Prominent figures present during the programme included Lakshmi Oraon, Anima Ba, Anita Hembrome and Moushumi Bhangra besides state chief of National SC/ ST Hub Vinod Kumar and manager Kapil Kumar Rahul was present on the occasion when Kiro was addressing the programme in the capacity of eastern zone convenor of TICCI.

Many tribal women entrepreneurs were present on the occasion.  During the programme, the success and failure of the MSME schemes were discussed. At the same time opportunities for tribal women entrepreneurship and barriers were also highlighted.

Kido said that the entry of tribal communities into the field of entrepreneurship is a good sign but there is a need to focus on rural innovation apart from traditional business.

Throwing light on the MSME schemes, she said that even though the Ministry of MSME was formed for the development and protection of MSME units, today small enterprises are exploited in the hands of big enterprises.

She said that today both the government undertakings and large private enterprises are exploiting micro and small enterprises, whereas MSME units are partners of big enterprises. Small entrepreneurs have a special contribution in making big enterprises bigger but today big companies are making profits by eliminating these small enterprises.

She said in the coming days, there are alarm bells for the MSME ancillary units. On the other hand, big companies will also be affected.

She said that the tribes are basically simple; they do not trouble contractors coming from other states. People coming here from all the states do their own employment-business. Big industries are setting up business, but the local tribes here are still neglected. Big companies are taking big prizes in the name of tribal development, this is just a show.

At the same time, the Tribal Chamber has demanded from the Central Government that a special provision should be brought for the development of rural business. The State MSME Board should be constituted so that the existence of MSME vendors continues.
