Bhopal: In a shocking incident, two trainee army officers were assaulted, and one of their female friends was gang-raped at gunpoint in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, late Tuesday evening. The group, which had been on a picnic near the firing range at Chhoti Jam, fell victim to an armed robbery that escalated into a horrific attack.

According to local authorities, eight men armed with pistols, knives, and sticks ambushed the group. The attackers brutally beat the trainee officers, who are undergoing training at Mhow Army College, and their two female friends before robbing them of their money and belongings.

The situation took a turn for the worse when the attackers held one officer and a woman hostage, demanding a ransom of ₹10 lakh. The other officer and woman were sent to retrieve the ransom. Instead of complying, the officer rushed back to his unit and alerted his commanding officer, who immediately informed the police.

Responding swiftly, both police officers and military personnel arrived at the scene. However, the attackers managed to flee before authorities could apprehend them. The victims were taken to the Mhow Civil Hospital, where a medical examination confirmed that one of the women had been gang-raped.

Senior police officers, including Lokendra Singh Hirore, confirmed the attack. “A case has been registered under sections relating to dacoity, rape, and the Arms Act,” said officer Hitika Vasal. Authorities have already arrested two suspects, one of whom has a prior criminal record. The police are currently hunting for the remaining attackers.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the region, with a thorough investigation underway to bring all perpetrators to justice.
