New Delhi: Union Minister Giriraj Singh lashed out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday, responding sharply to his remarks about the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during an event in Texas, USA. Singh, referring to Gandhi’s comments, stated, “A traitor cannot understand the RSS,” escalating the political war of words between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress.

During an interaction with the Indian community at the University of Texas, Rahul Gandhi took a swipe at the BJP’s ideological parent, the RSS, accusing it of holding a narrow view of India. “The RSS believes that India is one idea, while we believe India is a multiplicity of ideas,” Gandhi said, intensifying his critique of the organization.

He further charged that the BJP, with the backing of the RSS, had attacked the Constitution during the last Lok Sabha election, which, according to him, made the stakes clear for millions of Indians.

In a strong rebuttal, Union Minister Giriraj Singh responded, urging Gandhi to learn about the RSS from historical accounts or, if possible, from his late grandmother, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. “If there is any technology to ask his grandmother about the role of the RSS, he should do so or consult the pages of history. A traitor cannot understand the RSS, and those who criticize India abroad will never grasp its essence,” Singh remarked.

Singh continued, accusing Rahul Gandhi of using his trips abroad to defame India. “It seems Rahul Gandhi travels abroad only to speak ill of India. He will never be able to understand the values and culture that the RSS is rooted in,” Singh added.

Amit Malviya’s Sarcastic Jibe

Meanwhile, BJP leader Amit Malviya also weighed in, sarcastically reacting to comments made by Congress leader Sam Pitroda. Pitroda, while speaking at the same event in Texas, praised Rahul Gandhi, saying that his education, reading, and strategic thinking make him difficult to understand.

Malviya mocked the statement, saying, “Sometimes it is not easy to understand Rahul Gandhi, says his mentor Sam Pitroda. Well, make it most of the time. His bloopers are the stuff legends are made of.”

Pitroda, however, defended Gandhi, countering the common “pappu” jibe, often directed at the Congress leader, and emphasized that Gandhi’s vision is fundamentally different from that of the BJP.

Rahul Gandhi’s US Outreach

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks came as part of his three-day visit to the US, where he interacted with students at the University of Texas and engaged with US lawmakers. The visit is part of a broader outreach effort by Gandhi, which comes ahead of important political events, including the US presidential election in November and assembly elections in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir.

This international trip has seen Rahul Gandhi doubling down on his critique of the RSS and BJP, positioning himself as a voice for pluralism and diversity, in contrast to the ruling party’s vision.
