New Delhi, Jan 18: The election commission on Wednesday released the date for the Tripura assembly elections. On February 16, elections will be held in Tripura, where the BJP is currently in power.
The counting of votes will take place on March 2.
The Tripura Assembly will adjourn on March 22, 2023. There are 80 members in the Tripura Legislative Assembly. After securing a two-thirds majority in the 60-member House in the 2018 Tripura assembly elections, the BJP-Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) coalition ended the state’s 25-year Left-rule.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) won 16, the IPFT won 8, and the Congress received no votes out of the 60 seats up for grabs. The BJP took 35 of the seats.
There will be 3,328 polling locations in Tripura.
