New Delhi, Nov 20: A day after Elon Musk, the site’s new owner, polled users on whether or not the former US president should be let back on, Donald Trump has rejoined Twitter.

“The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated,” Musk tweeted.

Shortly after this tweet, Trump’s account reappeared on Twitter.

Reinstate former President Trump

Elon Musk started a Twitter poll on Saturday. “Reinstate former President Trump?” he questioned. The difference in votes between those who supported his return to the microblogging site and those who opposed it was relatively small. The former US president should return to Twitter, according to about 51.8% of people.

Musk had previously restored accounts linked to the satirical website Babylon Bee and the conservative media figure Jordan Peterson. Following Musk’s announcement last month that Twitter would create a content moderation council with “widely diverse viewpoints,” these reinstatements have taken place.

This survey was done by Elon Musk while Twitter was experiencing a period of layoffs and exits. Nearly half of the staff has been asked to depart less than three weeks after Musk took control.

However, after being banned from Twitter for inciting violence, Donald Trump stated on Saturday that he had no interest in going back.

He declared he would stick with his new platform Truth Social, an app created by his startup Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), which he said was performing ‘phenomenally well’ and had higher user engagement than Twitter.
