Daltonganj, Oct 22: Two Chhattisgarh labourers sitting atop a cement loaded truck died in an early morning accident today at Meram turning on the state highway 9, according to Ashutosh Yadav, the officer-in-charge of the Mahuadanr police station.

The accident didn’t happen due to a collision with another vehicle or roadside tree etc but got imbalanced and resulted in this tragedy.

The deceased have been identified as Tila Sai Bargai and Eerie Bargai, both hailing from Balrampur district in Chhattisgarh. Their bodies have been sent to the Sadar Hospital in Latehar for post mortem.

There were 5 men on the cement-loaded truck including its driver identified as Anjar Ahmad of Balrampur. One has remained almost unhurt. Two others who have sustained injuries are Ram Briksh Korwa and Kahru Korwa belonging to the same Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh. The injured have been provided treatment.

The truck was on its way to Mahuadanr from Chhattisgarh today. After the incident, bags of cement got torn and scattered all around the road and in the nearby bushes.

Sources said the Meram turning is highly risky and vulnerable for accidents. This is the second accident this month at this turning where two lives were lost.

Ashutosh Yadav said the state highway officials should inspect this turning and try to find out ways to make it less dangerous for the safety of people.
