Two die, three injured in two separate lightning strikes in Giridih

Dhanbad, Feb 4: Two persons died and three others were injured in two separate lightning strikes during rains in Giridih on Friday morning, police officials said.

A senior police officer of Giridih district headquarters said that the deceased have been identified as Satish Yadav (37) of Dhanbar and Chetu Murmu(50) of Gawan block.

Police officials said the first incident occurred in Daryadih village under Dhanbar police station of the district in the morning. Amidst heavy rains, Satish Yadav along with his brother Rajkumar Yadav had gone to cover their brick kiln when the lightning struck them.

Satish Yadav died on the spot while doctors of Dhanbar community health centre (CHC) referred Rajkumar Yadav to Ranchi in a critical condition for better treatment.

The second lightning incident happened in Jamua village under Gawan police station of the district in the morning. During the heavy rains, lightning fell on the clay house of Chetu Murmu.

 

He died on the spot while his wife Moni Majhiyan and one Sukhdev Murmu received injuries in the incident. Both were admitted at Gawan community health centre (CHC).
