Ranchi, Feb.1: Eminent economist, social activist and critic, Professor Ramesh Sharan reacting to the union budget said it is not an election budget.

Sharan, who has also worked as vice chancellor of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh, said that no concession has been given in the budget and this is beyond the expectation of common men in the country.

The government has levied a 30 percent tax on crypto currency, which is becoming popular day by day. Reacting to this, Sharan, who is the head of Ranchi University Economics department, said it is a step to discourage the new currency without commenting on its outcome.

He said the government has focused on the development of the generation of jobs. It reflects the government’s focus on infrastructure development, he added.

During the presentation of the budget it was claimed that it was prepared keeping 25 years in mind. On this, Sharan said ‘economy is not predictable.’

He said that the economy is yet to return to pre-Covid situation as data suggests that growth in the economy is just 1.3 percent if compared with growth of pre-Covid time.
