Unknown criminals kill DMK functionary C Selvam in Chennai

Chennai, Feb 2: DMK functionary C Selvam was hacked to death by unknown persons in Madipakkam area of Chennai last night, ahead of local body polls.

Selvam (46) was the secretary for the DMK’s 186th ward unit.

At 9:30 p.m., Selvam was allegedly hacked to death by a gang outside his Madipakkam home in broad daylight. Following the assault, the group left. Selvam died instantly. The event has elicited a tight-lipped response from police officials.

Madipakkam police have filed a report and are conducting an investigation to identify the perpetrators and determine the cause for the heinous crime.

Selvam is the second local DMK official to be assassinated this week. Ponnudas (38) was allegedly slain in Tirunelveli on Sunday.
