Saharanpur, June 29: In relation to the event on June 28 in which Chandrashekhar Aazad, the leader of the Bhim Army, was shot at by unidentified assailants in the Deoband area, the Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Deoband police station in the Saharanpur district.
Aazad, the Aazad Samaj Party leader who was taken to the hospital following the shooting, has been reported to be in stable condition, police said.
Based on Manish Kumar, Chandra Shekhar’s accomplice, complaint, the FIR has been filed.
The FIR states that in addition to accusations of attempted murder against the attackers, provisions of offences under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) Act have been imposed.
On Wednesday, armed men attacked Aazad’s convoy in the Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
The leader of the Bhim Army has pleaded with his friends and supporters to keep the peace.
“I did not expect such a sudden attack. I want to appeal to my friends, supporters, and workers across the country to maintain peace. We will continue our fight constitutionally. I am fine with the love and blessings of crores of people,” Azad said from hospital here.
