Lucknow, April 18: Due to an increase in Covid cases in certain neighbouring states, the Uttar Pradesh government made it mandatory for people to wear a face mask in public areas in the capital Lucknow and six NCR districts on Monday, according to an official.
The rise of Covid cases has had a negative influence on the districts that come under the national capital region (NCR). In light of this, the government has ordered the wearing of masks in public areas in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Baghpat, and the capital Lucknow mandatory, according to an official spokeswoman.
According to the official, 65 new Covid instances have been confirmed in Gautam Buddh Nagar in the previous 24 hours, 20 in Ghaziabad, and 10 in Lucknow, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered ‘strict monitoring’ of the issue.
Notably, the Uttar Pradesh administration relaxed the wearing of face masks earlier this month in light of the better COVID-19 scenario.
