Lucknow, Feb 14: Over 2 crore voters will decide the electoral fate of 586 candidates running for 55 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh in the second phase of the election on Monday.
There are 1.08 crore males, 94 lakh females, and 1,269 third-gender voters among the total 2.02 crore eligible voters.
Voting in the 55 Assembly constituencies of Amroha, Budaun, Bareilly, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Saharanpur, Sambhal, and Shahjahanpur in the western section of the politically significant state began at 7 a.m. and will end at 6 p.m. 9.45% voter turnout recorded so far.
“Voting being held in 55 assembly constituencies across 9 districts today. Polling process is peaceful and fair everywhere. No report of any untoward incident received,” said BD Ram Tiwari, Additional Chief Election Officer.

Earlier in 2017, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 38 of the 55 seats, the Samajwadi Party 13, the Congress, and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) each gained two.
