New Delhi, Feb 2: After being unable to reach the location in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri due to strong fog, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to a public assembly over the phone today.

Rajnath Singh arrived in Bareilly at 11 a.m. as planned and flew by helicopter to Lakhimpur Kheri and Pilibhit, however the chopper failed to land at either location after multiple attempts due to poor visibility.

Later, he travelled by car to Pilibhit for public meetings and door-to-door canvassing.

Rajnath Singh had tweeted earlier in the day that he would visit Lakhimpur Kheri and Pilibhit seats and mingle with notable people.

Notably, Lakhimpur Kheri on February 23 will vote in the fourth phase of the UP Assembly Election 2022. Last date of nomination is February 3rd.

On January 31, the election commission lifted the ban on roadshows, vehicle rallies, and processions in the five poll-bound states, allowing public meetings of up to 1,000 people and doorstep campaigning of up to 20 people instead of the previous limit of 10. However, the ban on roadshows, vehicle rallies, and processions was extended until February 11 in the five poll-bound states.
