New Delhi, Jan 6: Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, announced on Friday that he would host a high-level conference in Dehradun this evening in response to the ground sinking at Joshimath in the Chamoli district.
“I will hold a high-level meeting with top officials in Dehradun this evening regarding landslides in Joshimath and cracks in houses,” Uttarakhand CM said while talking to ANI.
The conference will also include participation from Commissioner Garhwal Mandal and District Magistrate Chamoli in addition to representatives from the Disaster Management, Irrigation, and Home Departments. Dhami further mentioned that he would travel to Joshimath on Saturday to assess the situation.
“A team from BJP has also been sent there,” he added.
Notably, the BJP state unit has also established a 14-person committee, coordinated by the party’s state general secretary Aditya Kothari, to evaluate the alleged damages and the ground subsidence occurrence.
Severe landslides are occurring in the Uttarakhand district of Chamoli near Joshimath. Right now, landslides have hit every ward in the region.

According to the District Disaster Management Department, Joshimath’s ongoing soil subsidence has led to cracks appearing in as many as 561 homes. 66 families have reportedly left Joshimath as of right now as a result of the appearance of cracks in the dwellings.
