New Delhi, Dec 21: A plea seeking a CBI investigation into the murder of Ankita Bhandari was denied by the Uttarakhand High Court on Wednesday. The investigation being carried out by an SIT of the Uttarkhand Police was praised by the bench of Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra.
Notably, Pulkit Arya, the son of a former BJP leader, and his two accomplices are suspected of killing 19-year-old Ankita in September 2022 because she refused to provide ‘additional services’ to a VIP guest at a resort (owned by the accused).
Ashutosh Negi, the chief editor of the Jago Uttarakhand Weekly Newspaper, later filed a petition asking the CBI to investigate the case, alleging that BJP MLA Renu Bisht had ordered the destruction of the resort where Ankita Bhandari had previously worked in order to ensure the destruction of any potential evidence.
It should be mentioned that Ankita had been missing between September 18 and September 19, at which point her search was launched. On September 23, three suspects, including Pulkit, were detained and allegedly confessed to killing Ankita when questioned by police.
Her body was also pulled from the Chilla canal in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, on September 24 as a result of their pointing. Immediately following the tragedy, the resort was demolished in front of Renu Bisht, the BJP’s Yamkeshwar MLA.
Vinod Arya, the father of the accused Pulkit Arya, was removed from the BJP not long after the murder was made public. The SIT submitted a chargesheet in the case three days ago, designating Pulkit Arya and two other people as the main defendants.
