Vadodara: A wave of grief engulfed the family of a retired M S University (MSU) teacher after a horrific car accident in Vadodara’s Karelibaug area claimed the life of a woman and left eight others injured. The 23-year-old accused, Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia, a law student at MSU, was reportedly driving a speeding car that led to the tragic crash near Muktanand Crossroads early on Friday morning.
The deceased, identified as Hemali Patel, was the daughter-in-law of former MSU Polytechnic College teacher Dipak Sumantlal Patel, sources close to the family confirmed.
Retired Professor’s Family Shattered
Dipak Patel, a former faculty member of the mechanical engineering department, retired 14 years ago. His son, Purav Patel, who was also injured in the accident, remains in a critical condition at SSG Hospital, the largest government hospital in Central Gujarat.
“Purav is battling for his life. He suffered multiple injuries to his chest, head, and shoulders and is currently in the ICU, undergoing surgery,” said Dilip Patel, former principal of Polytechnic College and a close family associate.
The devastated family is struggling to cope with the tragedy, as Dipak Patel, at his advanced age, has lost his daughter-in-law while his son fights for survival.
University Considers Action Against Accused Student
MSU officials have confirmed that they are considering strict action against Rakshit Chaurasia, the accused law student. In-charge Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dhanesh Patel, who also serves as the Principal of Polytechnic College, stated that an internal meeting will be held to determine appropriate disciplinary action against him.
The final rites of Hemali Patel were conducted at Karelibaug crematorium as family members and former colleagues of Dipak Patel mourned the tragic loss.
