New Delhi, Jan 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the longest river trip in the entire globe today in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

The luxurious cruise will depart from Varanasi and travel more than 3,200 kilometres via 27 different river systems in five different Indian and Bangladeshi regions. A cruise with 31 passengers is scheduled to depart from Ravidas Ghat and travel via 50 locations over the course of 51 hours.

Cruise ship chairman Raj Singh said, “The cruise will pass through 27 river systems. This will improve connectivity with Bangladesh.”

With 36 passengers and all the comforts, the MV Ganga Vilas cruise has three decks and 18 suites on board. The ship offers a library, gym, and spa, among other amenities. 31 passengers from Switzerland and Germany have boarded the ship, and they will travel with the 40 members of the crew.

The public-private partnership (PPP) model of Ganga Vilas will also encourage more competition and contribute to the expansion of the tourism industry.

From Varanasi’s well-known ‘Ganga Aarti,’ it will make a stop at Sarnath, a Buddhist holy site. It will also cover Majuli, Assam’s largest river island and the centre of Vaishnavite culture, and Mayong, renowned for its tantric crafts.

The tourists will also stop by the Vikramshila University and the Bihar School of Yoga to learn more about the spiritual and academic legacy of India.

The trip will also pass by Kaziranga National Park, home to one-horned rhinos, and the Sunderbans in the Bay of Bengal delta, both of which are rich in biodiversity and are designated as World Heritage Sites.
