Dhanbad, April 25: The Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) Hazaribagh will launch four ambitious modern subjects namely cyber security, data science, industrial security and artificial intelligence in the new academic session which starts in July.

VBU vice-chancellor (V-C) Dr Mukul Narayan Dev giving this information said that for launching these ambitious subjects, especially ‘cyber security,’ the university has signed an MoU with Cyber Vidyapeeth Foundation in this regard and both the institutions will execute the course and teach the students jointly.
With the launching of these courses, VBU Hazaribagh will be the first university in Jharkhand to start them.
“The university has also set up ‘Digital Studio,’ first of its kind in universities of the state and this has helped immensely in completing the academic session timely. With the help of ‘digital studio,’ videos of lectures are made and even being uploaded on Youtube in the interest of students,” said Dr Mukul Narayan Dev.
The VC said that courses of UG and PG will be completed in June and the new academic session will start in the first week of July.
“For completing the course of the students, the university will hold online classes during one-month summer vacation. Three semesters of UG and four semesters of PG will also be completed in time,” he said.
The VC further said that he has focused on holding 90 days of classes as per guidelines. “My mission is that students of Jharkhand do not go out of the state and get all the desired subjects in their own state,” he said.
Rolling out his plan, VC Dr Mukul Narayan Dev said that he has many ambitious academic projects in the pipeline. “I have demanded 50 acres of land from the state government as well as the deputy commissioner (DC) of Hazaribagh to execute development projects in the university,” he said.
However, Dr Dev said that in a lack of good teachers, he is not able to provide quality teaching to students.
VBU PG Teachers’ Association and senior faculty members have highly appreciated the project of the vice-chancellor.
Senior vice-president Dr Sukalyan Moitra (political science) said that it is a positive step which will provide opportunities to students in Jharkhand and they will not need to go out. “These subjects are related to modern education and the demand of the time. Besides students, the new courses would also help the university in NAAC ranking,” said Dr Moitra.
Prof Shailesh Sharma, senior professor in the economics department, said that VBU is the first university in the Eastern zone to have launched a cyber security subject. He has come from Bhabha Atomic Centre so his approach is also scientific. “This is a great opportunity for students of Bengal, Bihar and home state to pursue a successful career,” said Prof Sharma
