New Delhi, March 15: Sameer Khakhar, who was well known for playing the iconic character Khopdi in the DD hit programme of the 1980s, died in Mumbai at the age of 71. For almost four decades, he was a well-known stage, screen, and television actor. He had been gone from acting, though, for a while. After relocating to the United States in 1996, Sameer made a comeback. His most recent movie was Jai Ho, and he also appeared in the TV programme Sanjeevani.
Sameer began with Gujarati plays before becoming well-known for the television programme Nukkad. He became a well-known character actor due to the popularity of this classic 1980s programme.
Circus, Naya Nukkad, Shriman Shrimati, Maniranjan, and Adalaat were some of Sameer’s well-liked TV programmes. He appeared in a number of movies, including Pushpak, Parinda, Shahenshah, Patel ko Punjabi Shaadi, and Hasee to Phasee.
The funeral for Sameer Khakar was held at Babhai Naka Crematorium in Borivali. He recently appeared in the movies Farzi on Amazon Prime Video, Sunflower on Zee5, and Serious Men by Sudhir Mishra.
