Patna, Aug 27: The Vigilance Department conducted simultaneous searches at various places connected to Sanjay Kumar Rai, an executive engineer in the Kishanganj division of the public works department and seized crores of rupees.
Multiple locations in Patna and Kishanganj were raided concurrently by teams of VIB inspectors. When they showed up at Rai’s Kishanganj house, they discovered that he had been keeping money that had allegedly been given to him as a kickback in the offices of a junior engineer and cashier. Teams then carried out raids on Rai’s subordinates.
According to ANI, Sujit Sagar, DSP Vigilance, Patna said, “We carried out an investigation and registered an FIR against him. Raids were conducted today at his premises in Kishanganj. Cash around Rs 1 crore has been recovered; some documents and jewellery have also been recovered.”
According to information, over Rs 3 crore in cash was found during searches of the cashier’s Kishanganj premises. Around Rs 1 crore in cash was also found in Sanjay Kumar Rai’s Patna home at the same time.

The raid is still underway and cash counting machines have been brought in. Further details are awaited.
