New Delhi, Dec 2: Russian President Vladmir Putin will be on an official visit to New Delhi on 6 December for the 21st India-Russia Annual Summit with PM Narendra Modi. The leaders will exchange views on the international agenda, including joint work within the G20, BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
“The visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin will take place on 6th December. There will be a series of meetings. We foresee a very intensive engagement during the day and culminating with the Summit. Day will begin with the Defence Min & Russian counterpart co-chairing the intergovernmental commission,” said Arindam Bagchi, MEA Spokesperson on Thursday.
“EAM will have a bilateral meeting with its Russian counterpart. It’ll be followed by the inaugural meeting of the newly instituted 2+2 dialogue mechanism at the level of Foreign & Defence Ministers,” he added.
According to the sources this meeting between Putin and Modi is also likely to see the presentation of the S-400 air defence system to India which has already started arriving in India in parts.
According to the ANI reports, in a major boost to India and Russia military ties, the two countries are scheduled to ink the deal on supplying 7.5 lakh AK-203 assault rifles on Monday during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Delhi.
