New Delhi, Jan 20: Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, has welcomed Indian businesses to use its delivery system and marketplace to reach customers in other countries.

“Walmart is now inviting select Indian sellers to apply to join Walmart Marketplace, a curated sellers’ community that serves more than 120 million US shoppers each month,” the retail giant said in a statement.

This effort builds on Walmart’s 20-year relationship with Indian exporters. Walmart has set an ambitious target of exporting $10 billion from India each year by 2027, making it one of the company’s top sourcing markets.

In India, a specialised Cross Border Trade team has been established to assist sellers with their onboarding and growth on the platform. Walmart is looking for new Indian merchants as part of a global push to entice overseas sellers and increase the Marketplace’s product offerings. Walmart Fulfillment Services will allow selected sellers to access Walmart’s warehouse and delivery infrastructure in the United States, as well as platform features to assist them simplify their operations and manage promotions and feedback.

Walmart also helps its Marketplace vendors flourish in the United States by sharing U.S. customer insights, worldwide supply chain best practises, and business planning techniques.

“Building on our long history of partnership with Indian exporters, Walmart is now offering Indian businesses the opportunity to further their export dreams as Marketplace sellers. They will be able to leverage our global supply chain infrastructure and receive support to help them reach millions of daily customers in the US,” said Michelle Mi, Walmart Vice President, Emerging Markets and Business Development – Global Sourcing.

Rajneesh Kumar, Flipkart Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, said: “The opportunity to easily access global consumers can be transformative for Indian sellers. Outstanding ‘Make in India’ brands can expand their global networks, learn export best practices and diversify their product categories in concert with Walmart as they take on the world.”

Delphi Leather India, Mahi Exports, Touchstone Gems & Jewelry, and Welspun are among the Indian companies that have already established themselves on Walmart Marketplace.
