Daltonganj, Jan 12: Herhanj, a ‘weak’ block in terms of covid vaccination in Latehar district, is now coming out of the woods.
BDO Herhanj Pradip Kumar told lagatar24.com today that Herhanj is now too close to achieve 100 percent target of first dose of covid vaccination.
He said as against the target of over 22,000 first dose vaccination of the eligible here, Herhanj has already done around 20,000 vaccinations so far.
Meanwhile, DC Latehar Abu Imran today pushed off for Herhanj in the inclement weather just to see if ANMs and vaccination teams are present at the vaccination sites or not.
Speaking to lagatar24.com, DC Abu Imran said: “We have four blocks namely Herhanj, Bariyatu, Balumath and Mahuadanr which we dub as ‘weak’ as these blocks were not strongly taking vaccinations ahead.”
He said he keeps going to these weak blocks just to give an impetus to the vaccination. Most of the health workers were found at their jobs except an ANM who was on leave over accounts of her health.
Dr Ashok Oreya said some of the health care workers have taken the third dose of the vaccine and a few of them are having mild fever but no serious issues.
The DC also carried blankets with him and distributed them among the poor.
DC Latehar conceded that migration is quite rampant in Herhanj as labourers migrate to places like Khaylari in Jharkhand and Varanasi in UP to work at brick kiln sites there.
“We do not have any idea if our migrants outside Herhanj have been careful enough to take the first jab there. When they return, our teams will reach them and act accordingly for the benefit of their health,” the DC added.
