West Singhbhum inter-school Chess: Tanisk Kumar emerges Champion

Dhanbad, Oct 3: Tanisk Kumar of St Xavier School Chaibasa won the West Singhbhum district Inter-School Chess Championship which concluded on Monday evening.

Tanisk Kumar was the lone unbeaten player in the six rounds championship and got six points to bag the winner’s trophy.

Basant Raj Soe of DAV Public School Chaibasa, Chiranjit Sarkar of Chakradharpur DAV School, Kush Mudra, and Kaniska Kumari of Chakradharpur got five points each and were in second to fifth place respectively on the basis of progressive points.

 

West Singhbhum District Chess Association general secretary Basant Khandelwal said that  Nishtha Das was declared the best school girl player while Sheikh Mubashi and Himanshu Mahto were declared under-7 and under-9   age group champions respectively.

Dayaraj Charan and  Sridas Pirojiwala got 5 points each and were declared under-11 and under-13 age group champions respectively.

In the evening Vedant Khirwal was the chief guest and gave away prizes to the championship winners. The chief guest highly appreciated the organizers for holding the championship and suggested organizing such a competition at regular intervals to promote games among school students.

Vice-president of the association Jahangir Alam,  Anant Lal, Manish Sharma, Ishan Choubey, Arpit Khirwar, Purusottam  Saarf, Harsh Sharma, Rahul Gupta, Suraj Tiu and  Bhupesh Balmuchh were also present on the occasion.

Jayadeo Chandra Tripathi conducted the function. Earlier in the morning, Dipendra Prasad Sahu had inaugurated the championship.
