Ranchi, Sept.23: A local voluntary organisation that fights against corruption, Birsa Munda Bhrashtachar Nirodhak Sangathan, wrote a letter to rural development minister Alamgir Alam pointing out manipulation in date of birth and education qualification of candidates in the merit list prepared for appointment of junior engineers and clerk-cum-computer operators in different panchayats in the State under 15th Finance Commission.
Pointing out irregularities, the organisation had demanded an immediate stay on appointment.
“In the primary provisional merit list released on April 6 this year the age of a candidate, Izhar Ahmed, is mentioned 47 while in the final list released on August 31 his age has become 41. The same candidate, who was also appointed under 14th finance commission on December 10, 2016, had mentioned his date of birth as 10.01.1973 suggesting he is 48 years old,” the organisation has pointed out as one of the examples.
Similarly, the organisation presenting several other examples pointed out manipulation in educational qualification certificates of the candidates, residential certificates saying the merit list suggests the adoption of corrupt practice and need proper investigation.
The letter has been signed by its president Sarfaraz Ansari besides several other office bearers. Copies of the letter have also been given to the chief secretary, secretary of the rural development department, and director of Panchayati Raj. A copy of the letter is also available with Lagatar24.com.
Ansari confirmed the action saying the age limit for the appointment is 40 but candidates of age above 40 have been appointed. Apart from this, he said, district-wise reservation rules have not been followed.
“Entire process of preparing the merit list is under the scanner and the government should immediately take action into the matter,” Ansari said.
