New Delhi, Jan 20: Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chairman Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is under pressure to quit due to allegations of the sexual abuse of wrestlers, has stated he will ‘reveal’ the ‘political conspiracy’ in a news conference on Friday afternoon.

Singh, who represents Kaiserganj in Uttar Pradesh as a BJP member of the Lok Sabha, said in a Facebook post that he will hold a press conference at the state’s Wrestling Training Center in Nawabganj’s Gonda district.

This evening is the scheduled time for the press conference. Before shifting the scheduling to today after 4 pm, Singh had earlier stated that the news conference would take place at midday.

The news came after some wrestlers met with Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur late on Thursday night. The discussion between Thakur and the wrestlers went into the early hours of today after Thakur travelled from Chandigarh late yesterday evening to his home in Delhi. Sources claim that it concluded with no clear resolution.

Around three in the morning today, grapplers Sakshee Malikkh, Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, and Ravi Dahiya were among those observed leaving Thakur’s home. Thakur is expected to meet with wrestlers in the nation’s capital once more this morning, according to sources.
