Jamshedpur, Feb 11: It’s time for XLRI, the leading B-school of the region  to participate in the Positive Impact Rating (PIR)-2022.

This will give the students a chance to evaluate the institution on its initiatives to solve societal and sustainable challenges and assess the positive impact of the B-school.

The Positive Impact Rating (PIR) is a rating by students and for students to address the larger role of business schools and their positive impact which extends beyond their contribution to business and the economy.

XLRI will be participating in the rating for the third consecutive year. XLRI has featured in the list of the top Global Business Schools of the first two editions of Positive Impact Rating.

In the second edition of Positive Impact Rating held in 2021, XLRI was categorized under the topmost level, Level 5- ‘Pioneering schools’, a significant increase from its previous evaluation at Level 3.

The results of the 2021 edition of the Positive Impact Rating were announced at the World Economic Forum in Lucerne-Burgenstock, Switzerland in May last year.

This year, XLRI aims to maintain its ranking in the ‘Pioneering schools’ category. The characterizations of the different levels refer to the developmental stage of the business school.

The collection of data is organized by the student committee SIGMA-oikos, which will conduct a survey across students through email campaigns and social media.

The results can be used as a tool to drive student-led sustainable development.

Fr Paul Fernandes, director of XLRI said, “We value what our students do, their voices, views and opinions. They are more than students as they actively participate in the emerging and future society making it more and more sustainable for the greater good of humanity. XLRI students have a fine vision of making the planet a better place for all and are able to engage even for global action.”

Fr Donald D’Silva, Dean, (Administration & Finance), said, “Positive Impact Rating Survey provides a global platform to the B-school students to put forward their school’s contributions towards building a sustainable future. This reflects the perception of the students of their institution’s positive impact on the larger community. We were delighted when in 2021, XLRI was awarded the highest rating; i.e. Level 5. We are dedicated to work towards continuous and collaborative improvements through mobilizing our students’ opinions and academic choices.”

Prof Ashis K Pani, Dean, (Academics), said, “XLRI has always believed in the values of excellence and integrity and strives to engrain these virtues into its students. XLRI is committed towards providing an ethics and sustainability driven curriculum to nurture responsible global leaders”.

According to Prof. Tata Raghuram, convenor, Father Arrupe Centre for Ecology and Sustainability (FACES), “XLRI sets commitments to create a positive impact on the society. The PIR rating inspires us to work more diligently towards attaining our vision and mission. We are excited that we can mobilize the student and faculty voices in XLRI to foster a positive change together.”

Prof. Apratim Guha, chairman, ranking committee commented, “XLRI has always prioritized its contribution to the society at large and has prided itself in moulding its students as socially responsible citizens. Towards our larger goal of fostering positive changes in society and continuing on a sustainable path, we wholeheartedly welcome the students’ voices. The Positive Impact Rating Survey offers us an opportunity towards the same.”

Notably, as an institution, the premier B- school and its students strive to push forth ideas with a sense of responsibility to bring about change for the betterment of society at large.

The views of the students on the institution towards how it functions to realize its mission and commitments are reflected in the ratings.

Officials said the continuous efforts of the institution towards this goal were showcased with a marked improvement in the ratings of XLRI which it hopes to maintain its ranking going forward.
