Jamshedpur, July 28; A 23-year-old drunk youth got his wrist ruptured while ransacking a glass-fitted counter at railway parking in Tatanagar station past midnight.
The youth identified as Vikash Dubey succumbed to his injury on way to MGM medical college hospital from Tatanagar railway hospital where the railway police had taken him for treatment belatedly.
According to eyewitness accounts, Vikash and another youth came to the Tatanagar station area around 12.30 am and started consuming liquor by sitting near a flagpole platform close to the parking lot.
“Having consumed liquor in the prohibited area, the duo started fighting with each other. On seeing the two drunk and indulged in fighting, a section of auto-rickshaw drivers who were moving around for passengers asked them not to create chaos in such a place. The auto-rickshaw drivers had then driven them away acting as the railway cops,” said one of the eyewitnesses while talking to lagatar24.com correspondent.
The eyewitness further said that one of the desperadoes walked towards the outer gate of the station, but stopped near a glass-fitted cabin of the parking management. He pointed out the youth came close to the cabin and slammed his fist at the glass panel repeatedly. He said while hitting the glass panel, his right-hand wrist was cut and ruptured, causing heavy bleeding.
According to the eyewitness, there was no railway cop was around when all this happened, but a few minutes later cops from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) had arrived there and had taken the injured to the railway hospital.
The railway police had taken the injured to the Tatanagar railway hospital at Khasmahal but as his condition was serious he was referred to the medical college hospital at Sakchi where he was declared as brought dead.
