Ranchi: Ranchi Police has solved the murder case of BJP leader Anil Tiger, revealing that the motive behind his killing was a dispute over a 10-acre land. Anil Tiger was opposing illegal land encroachment and later allegedly demanded ₹50,000 per decimal from those attempting to occupy the land.
Anil Tiger was shot dead by criminals on 26 March at Kanke Chowk. The incident sparked massive protests from BJP and AJSU, leading to a complete shutdown in Ranchi on 27 March.
Key Accused Identified In The Murder Case
DIG and SSP Chandan Sinha, during a press conference, said that the murder was orchestrated by Devvrat Nath Shahdeo along with associates Abhishek Sinha, Rohit Verma, Aman Singh, Jishan Akhtar, Manish Chaurasia, and Ajay Kumar Rajak.
SSP said that four accused — Aman Singh, Manish Chaurasia, Jishan Akhtar, and Ajay Kumar — have been arrested so far, while raids are ongoing to nab the remaining culprits.
Anil Tiger Was Opposing Land Encroachment
According to police investigations, Devvrat Nath Shahdeo was trying to forcibly occupy the 10-acre land. Local villagers opposed the encroachment, and Anil Tiger was leading their efforts.
In August 2023, Shahdeo constructed a boundary wall on the disputed land, which Anil Tiger opposed with the villagers’ support. Following this, Shahdeo filed an FIR against Anil Tiger and others at Kanke Police Station, accusing them of assault, vandalism, and extortion.
Despite this, Shahdeo continued his attempts to encroach and sell the land, but Anil Tiger consistently thwarted these efforts, causing financial losses to Shahdeo.
Meeting Ended In Threats And Extortion Allegations
In December 2023, a reconciliation meeting was held at the house of Vinod Paswan in Harmu, where Anil Tiger allegedly demanded ₹4.5 crore at the rate of ₹50,000 per decimal to resolve the dispute. The meeting ended in failure, and Shahdeo allegedly threatened Anil Tiger with a pistol.
Plan To Build Approach Road Foiled By Anil Tiger
Later, Shahdeo planned to construct an approach road on the disputed land using MP funds. However, Anil Tiger informed the MP about the land dispute, leading to the cancellation of the foundation-laying ceremony.
SSP said that Shahdeo incurred financial losses due to his inability to occupy or sell the land, leading him to plot Anil Tiger’s murder.
Shooter Was Hired For ₹2 Lakh
During the deal, Abhishek Sinha told shooter Aman Singh that after Anil Tiger’s death, the situation would resolve like in the Lohardaga case, where another criminal was killed. Aman Singh agreed to execute the murder for just ₹2 lakh.
Meanwhile, questions are being raised about the circumstances under which the MP planned to construct an approach road on disputed land.
