Raipur, April 26: A Naxal attack on Wednesday claimed the lives of ten personnel of Chhattisgarh’s District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the driver of the vehicle they were travelling in.
After knowing that there were Naxalites in the Aranpur neighbourhood of Dantewada, security personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) went there.
They were engaged in local anti-Maoist actions.
The DRG soldiers’ vehicle was attacked by Maoists with an improvised explosive device (IED) while they were returning from the region.
The route the car took to return had been planted with explosives.
The Naxal IED blast claimed the lives of ten DRG force personnel and the vehicle’s driver.
“The news of the martyrdom of our 10 DRG jawans and a driver due to an IED blast targeting the DRG force which had arrived for anti-Naxal operation on the information of the presence of Maoist cadre under Aranpur police station area of Dantewada is very sad. We share the grief of their families. May their soul rest in peace,” Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel tweeted.
