Washington: With the Middle East conflict entering its 25th day, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are reportedly taking steps that could align them more closely with the US-Israel stance against Iran, signaling a potential escalation in the region.

Saudi Arabia Opens Air Base To US Forces

According to reports, Saudi Arabia has agreed to allow US military access to King Fahd Air Base. This marks a significant shift from its earlier position of not permitting its territory to be used for strikes against Iran, indicating a change in its strategic stance amid rising tensions.

UAE Cracks Down On Iran-Linked Networks

The UAE has taken action against Iranian-linked assets by shutting down an Iranian-owned hospital and club. These measures are seen as efforts to disrupt Tehran’s support systems in the region and reflect growing pressure on Iran from Gulf nations.

Signs Of Wider Regional Involvement

Reports also suggest that missiles used in recent attacks on Iran may have been launched from Bahrain, pointing to a broader regional footprint in the conflict. However, the US military has not confirmed whether it is receiving operational support from its regional allies.

Markets React To Rising Uncertainty

Global markets responded quickly to the developments, with crude oil prices rising and US stock futures declining, reflecting investor concerns over prolonged instability and supply disruptions.

Trump Pauses Energy Sector Strikes

US President Donald Trump indicated that he would delay potential strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure for five days, citing possible diplomatic progress and “major points of agreement” with Tehran.

No Confirmation Of Direct Talks With Iran

While reports suggested possible discussions between US envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian leadership, Iran has denied any direct negotiations. Iranian state media stated that attempts at indirect communication by Washington have not received any response.
