Gorakhpur, June 22: An additional large-scale wedding was held in Gorakhpur on Thursday as part of the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, stated a press release from the state’s Yogi Adityanath administration, which is continuing its focus on pro-women, pro-rural and pro-poor projects.

Yogi Adityanath said, no society can advance by ignoring women. He also said that without the empowerment of half the population, development is impossible.

CM Yogi Adityanath extended his best wishes and blessings to over 1500 couples who tied the knot during the ceremony held in Gorakhpur and said, “Atrocities against women must be stopped in order to empower society. As a result, the double-engine government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is working in mission mode to uphold the dignity of women and empower them.”

The Chief Minister stressed the Mass Marriage Scheme’s effectiveness in eradicating the pernicious dowry practise, which is still extensively practised in society.”Dowry is a social evil, and the whole society should be part of the campaign for dowry-free marriage.” claiming that the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana has been used by the state government to execute more than two lakh marriages since 2017, Yogi said, “Prior to 2017, Rs 31,000 were spent on the marriage of each couple; later, it was increased to Rs 51,000. This is the collective effort of the double-engine government.”

Indicating once more that the double-engine government is dedicated to guaranteeing the safety, respect and empowerment of women, the CM said, “Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana is being run in the state for the education of girl child from birth to graduation, while ‘Mission Shakti’ is being run in the entire state to ensure the safety of women.”

He continued by saying that because of the Mukhyamantri Samajik Vivah Yojana, there is no need to worry about a girl getting married after graduating from high school. This embodies the philosophy of “gaanv ki beti, sabki beti.” The government’s programmes for the welfare of women, such as Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao and Matru Vandana, were also mentioned by CM Yogi.

The Chief Minister added that his government has made it essential to hire 20% of women in the police, in order to promote daughters. The number of female employees in the UP Police climbed from 10,000 to 40,000 between 1947 and 2017. This number has quadrupled since 2017 in just six years. The creation of a women’s battalion of the PAC in Gorakhpur is gaining momentum in order to support such a campaign.
